**IMPORTANT INFORMATION regarding upcoming CTSO conference**
Please review the following documents:
*Permission Slip – all attendees
*Order for Student Stories – FEA specific
*CTSO Schedule – FEA events schedule
*Complete CTSO Conference Agenda – overall schedule/agenda for entire CTSO Conference, including Skills USA meetings and event times and locations
Conference Attendees:
FEA (Future Educators of Alaska): Maata Finau, Samantha Farmer, Christina LeBlanc, Sage Wilson (Advisor: Mrs. Lorence)
Skills USA: Trevor Grams, Wyatt Miller, Brandon Olinger, Jordan Sondergaard (Advisor: Mr. Brown)
Purpose of trip:
FEA: Participation in first-ever CTSO Digital Storytelling competition. Students will each present 5-minute speech related to process of creating their video.
SkillsUSA: “Scout group” to learn about SkillsUSA and the CTSO skills competition at spring conference. This group of students will provide leadership in developing Copper River School District SkillsUSA club (formal launch of club in fall 2013 with preparatory activities occurring this spring).
Departure:
Wednesday, March 20th @ 4:00 p.m. from Glennallen School
Return:
Saturday, March 23rd between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. Students must provide their own transportation back home from Glennallen on Saturday evening.
Cost:
There is no cost for students to attend this event. Each student will be provided with $90 to cover meals during the trip and will be responsible for budgeting/holding onto the cash while in Anchorage! Students may bring snacks, additional spending money, etc., if they wish.
ATTIRE:
This is the first time FEA has been part of the state CTSO conference, and this is the first time the CRSD has ever attended the event. Thus, it is difficult to know exactly what the event will be like. One VERY IMPORTANT thing you should know is that the CTSO Conference agenda very clearly states that “Professional attire is appropriate for all sessions. No hats, flip flops, jeans, suggestive clothing, etc.”
Permission Slip:
Please make sure your permission slip is signed and returned to Mr. Brown (SkillsUSA group) or to Mrs. Lorence (FEA group) as soon as possible. At the very least, it must be handed to your advisor prior to departure on Wednesday afternoon.
Questions?
Feel free to email or call Mrs. Van Wyhe at [email protected] / 822-8533 (office) / 259-5638 (cell)
I will be in Anchorage for the CTSO coordinators’ meeting on Thursday afternoon and hope to touch base with each of you then! Thanks for participating in this first-ever event for our school district, and thanks for your leadership in our schools!
